Eating Out near our place at Le Corboulo
While full kitchen facilities are provided at the Gite,  you may almost certainly want to eat like a local - this generally means several meat courses and often no vegetarian alternative. A notable exception are Creperies which can have egg, cheese, onions, mushrooms etc amongst the fillings options and another bonus is that Galettes are more or less gluten free (Ble Noir or Sarazin is NOT a grass-type grain) although (sweet) Crepes are made of white flour.

Vegetarianism hasn't really caught on in rural France although the vegetables from E LeClerc, the Monday market in Pontivy or the Sunday morning bio market at the Abbaye de Bon Repos are excellent and there is a bio co-op shop in rue de Caire at the south end of Pontivy.

Meanwhile here is a short selection of useful places: Each of these offers lunch at about 8-9 Euros;
Note that only l'Argoat is open in the evening out of the main summer season, up to about 9pm
 

Very Local:
Bar Le Corboulo (100 metres see How to get to us map !)
usually 4 courses (no choices !) 9 Euros and includes wine and/or cider, which you may be sharing with a local tractor driver !  

St-Aignan:( 1 kilometre - take the bike !)Hotel Restaurant les Pêcheries 
a small à la carte or a fixed price 3-course  

Mur de Bretagne (5 kilometres and about 75 metres up) Restaurant de la Grand Maison. No menu outside - if you need to ask...  

Anse de Sordan ( 6 kilometres - hilly, so fit bikers only !) Restaurant "Merlin - les pieds dans l'eau" + Tapas Bar & Terrasse - Café Dutch colonial and international - mid-priced This is at our nearest beach so worth combining with a sunny day. Tapas all day and main meals lunch and early evening. (up to 9pm)  

Cléguérec:( 7 kilometres - hilly, so fit bikers only !) Restaurant l'Argoat a variety of 3+ course menus from around 10 Euros PLUS drinks.  

Pontivy (16 kilometres - you can cycle down the towpath but much further following the river!) Many many places to eat, from renowned restaurants to Pizzerias and the dreaded McDO (WE haven't been there!)

Tranquility Salon de Thé Rue du Pont, old town. Dorset Cream Teas, coffee, homemade cakes, hot savouries, regular live acoustic music 02 97 97 05 01

Auberge de l'Ile in the middle of the River Blavet (Rue de la Fontaine) Delicious French cooking with a far eastern influence

L'Escale restaurant at Intermarché (S end on the Lorient road)! This is basic but very handy for when you forget about most of the shops shutting 1200-1400 and you can get just a main course for 3-4 Euros. Starters and sweets are on the buffet, but check out the menu price if you might more than two courses

Le Cul de Poule - a very rude name for a small cafe with delicious sauté potato and bacon dishes for example. On the corner of the Vannes road at the Plaine in the centre of the Napoleonic area (the big car park)
